After the in-office whitening, it is extremely important to stress to the patient the importance of the maintenance products and the protocol for using them.

StarBright Pen (on the go maintenance):
The StarBright pen will continue whitening with the whitening gel end and will strengthen the enamel and block stains before they happen. For the best results, apply the gel after brushing in the morning. Start with the whitening gel. Smile, brush the gel on to the teeth and allow it to dry for 30 seconds. After the whitening gel, apply the enamel strengthening gel in the same manner. The enamel gel will block out stains and strengthen the enamel over time. Avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after the gel is applied.
Ask the patient to return when they run out of gel.

Home Whitening Mouthpiece (At-home maintenance):
The Home Whitening mouthpiece and gel are also very important for continued maintenance. Begin using the home whitening system immediately after the in-office whitening to prevent relapse. Use daily for 12 days straight for a minimum of 1 hour, but up to 3 hours assuming no discomfort.
